I personally learned this on an unprepared trip to Switzerland ten years ago when I started prioritizing myhiking footwear.

Its important to find the best balance of comfort, protection, and functionality for tackling the trails.

In hot weather, your feet might get sweaty.

As an avid hiker, my personal favorite pair of hiking boots is the newDanner Mountain 600 EVOs.

My feet stayed dry, even while venturing through deep puddles and mud.

They look and feel very durable and I know Ill enjoy hiking in them for years to come.

Its recommended to order a half size up.

They broke in quickly in about a day and didnt cause any blisters or hot spots.

We wore them in the rain and our socks remained dry.

While theyre waterproof, they also felt breathable and our feet didnt overheat at all.

The interior cushioning is superior: firm and supportive, yet soft and comfortable.

They have a short break-in period to loosen them up.

The toe and heel are covered in rubber to reinforce those sensitive areas with more protection and more waterproofing.

Theyre almost too grippy on rock surfaces, making it difficult to pivot your foot in certain situations.

TheMerrell Moab 3 Mid GTX Boot for womenand men provided the best ankle support in all of our testing.

Danner Mountain 600 Evo

We noticed that these boots were very breathable, allowing our feet to stay cool even in warmer temperatures.

The reinforced heel and toe caps absorb shock and offer and extra mode of protection on the trails.

The midsole cushioning is slightly lacking.

That being said, they still offer great ankle support.

You may need to size up if you plan to wear thick socks with these boots.

We do appreciate that they felt sturdy yet lightweight and kept our feet cooler than expected.

Danner Mountain 600 Evo

These boots are extremely versatile for most outdoor activities and beyond.

They may not be comfortable for those with a high instep.

With each step, there was noticeable shock protection with a little bounce, which really optimized the comfort.

Danner Mountain 600 Evo

They were also breathable, so our feet didnt sweat.

Additionally, they came across as very durable, showing no wear and tear after our tests.

The tongue of the shoe doesnt have a lot of flexibility for ease of putting them on.

Keep your feet from getting super sweaty while hiking in the Zamberlan 335 Circe Low GTX shoes.

We appreciated the high-quality construction with sturdy soles and excellent grip.

They fit true to size and didnt require any break-in period.

The loud style may not be to everyone’s taste.

They felt light as a feather lifting them up and were almost unnoticeable when wearing.

The construction and materials feel high-quality, too.

There is plenty of arch support and we never felt fatigued.

The boots were quick to break in and we found them to fit true to size as well.

Colder weather endeavors will need insulation for warmth and extra grip for traction.

Choosing awaterproof bootcan be the difference between this scenario and one where your feet stay dry all day.

Theyre more compact and portable, making them a great choice for travelers.
