For 15 years, until 2006,Sandals Dunns Riverin Ocho Rios was part of the companys portfolio.

Then, in 2020, Sandals reclaimed the resort, re-opening it last year after a total transformation.

I was wowed by mine.

That wasnt all I loved about my one-bedroom SkyPool Butler Suite with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub, though.

The artwork showcasing the African diaspora also plentiful in the restaurants and elsewhere throughout the resort was stunning.

The resort worked with local and international artists, designing custom and curated pieces for the hotel.

The food at mega-resorts can be middling at best, but not here.

Theres variety, with more than a dozen eateries, from Asian Fusion and French cuisine to others.

But what I remember most about a year after my visit was the Red Lane Spa.

Whats good food without good drink?

Lift your glass at any of the nine bars.

Jamaica is all about the rum, so it’s fitting that Dunns Rum Club serves up 30 varieties.

Cant make up your mind?

Try a flight of six and decide what kind you want to take back home.

A cocktail at Sandals Dunns River

You must pop into the Sandals' first rooftop bar in Jamaica, Ocarina.

The craft cocktails, ocean views, and setting sun are the way to end your day.

Another popular spot is the Lapidus Lounge, which has an art deco vibe.

A signature Sandals experience is a private candlelight dinner under the stars by the sea.

The Spa

The Red Lane Spa is the kind of sanctuary that revitalizes the soul.

The Raindrop Dreams massage started with my massage therapist, Nicole, sprinkling seven essential oils along my spine.

Next came the full body massage and a foot massage to wrap up the 90-minute experience.

The hypnotic music, scents, and sounds of flowing streams set the tranquil tone.

The spa treatments are not included in the all-inclusive package, but they’re worth every penny.

Accessibility and Sustainability

Seven room categories are wheelchair-accessible.

The website lists them if you filter for “Wheelchair Accessible” upon booking.

So, as a guest, you’re free to feel good that you’re supporting the community.

Location

The resorts location is a plus.

In about 15 minutes, you’re free to get to Pearly Beach andKonoko Falls & Park.

The resort lobby can request a cab if you want to explore independently.

For organized tours, you might go through the Island Routes desk at the resort or via theirwebsite.

Its a bonus, for sure.
