So what should you do if you or another guest break or ruin something?
Report damage as soon as possible.
Say you accidentally pull the curtains down or manage to rip a hole in the sheet with your suitcase.

What should you do?
The answer is always the same: Tell the front desk what happened.
Say, for instance, you have too much to drink and accidentally knock over a lamp.
Be aware of your hotels policies.
Illicit and irresponsible actions by guests are unacceptable under any circumstances.
Doing so will probably result in fines, extra cleaning fees, or even your removal from the building.
To avoid any headaches, check the website or call to ask about relevant policies ahead of time.
How much can hotels charge for damages?
Hotel damage is just one of those things that happens now and then.
So, just be honest and apologize for any spills, tears, breaks, and so on.
In many cases, the hotel may not even charge you unless the damage is extensive.
That doesnt just include the cost of the damaged item(s).
